Perennial is an event series and forthcoming literary magazine based in New York City.

As a magazine, our primary commitment lies in publishing work anchored in the most vivid aspects of living. We’re drawn to narratives that take place offline, that are grounded first and foremost in the distinct physical and emotional worlds of their characters, and that satisfy the fundamental impulse underlying our love and appreciation of literature, which is to broaden and enrich our understanding of what it means to be human. We believe in writing that resists the trappings of cultural insularity so often perpetuated by social media and its algorithms—algorithms ultimately designed to shorten our attention spans and in turn undermine our ability to experience art as it is meant to be experienced: slowly and with care.

In a similar vein, we aim to cultivate social and creative opportunities for emerging writers and other artists through events that promote the convergence of different scenes and circles, allowing guests to connect with people they may have not otherwise had the chance to meet. We see this as key in fostering a social and artistic milieu that is truly open and generative.

With love,

Chaeli, Charlotte, and Lillian
